The Just ASC! project (Additional Support and Concessions) helps you apply for often free or affordable cards that allow you to then access things at significantly discounted rates, and you can evidence your eligibility to access carer concessions
Blue Badge (Disabled Parking)
What it gives:
Parking concessions close to destinations
Documents:
- Photo ID
- Proof of address
- Photo
- DLA award (if applicable)
- Medical evidence
Free Bus Pass (Disabled Concessionary Travel Card)
What it gives:
Free bus travel across Wales + companion travel if needed
Documents:
- Proof of ID (passport/birth certificate)
- Proof of address (2 documents)
- Proof of disability (DLA, medical evidence)
HyntCard (VERY valuable locally)
What it gives:
- Free entry for a carer at cinemas, theatres, and leisure centres
Documents:
- Proof of disability (DLA / medical / professional letter)
- Photo
- Basic details
Passport to Leisure (Swansea scheme)
What it gives:
Discounted access to:
- Swimming, gyms, activities
Documents:
- Proof of disability (DLA / medical / professional letter)

Free/discounted swimming & activities
Includes:
- Free swimming for children in some programmes
- Discounted leisure access
Documents:

You don’t need a diagnosis—but you do need evidence of your child’s needs.
1. Proof of your child’s disability / ALN

You can use ANY of the following: DLA award letter (if you have it)
Letter from:
- GP
- Consultant
- Psychologist
- SEN/ALN professional
School evidence such as:
- IDP (Individual Development Plan)
- Educational psychologist report
Other reports: e.g. Occupational therapy, Care plans
These must:
- Be recent
- Show the child’s name
- Explain how the condition affects them
2. Photo ID
For a child:
- If your child has ID → passport etc.
- If not → you can use YOUR ID as parent/carer
Accepted ID includes:
- Passport
- Driving licence
- Or 2 documents like:
- Utility bill
- Bank statement
- Birth certificate
3. A photo
Passport-style photo of your child (Uploaded during application)
4. Description of their needs (VERY important)
You’ll be asked to explain:
- What your child struggles with
- What help they need (e.g. supervision, avoiding crowds, extra time)
This is key — the card is based on needs, not just diagnosis
Access Card
A photo ID card that shows your child’s access needs using symbols
Helps get things like:
- Free carer tickets
- Queue adjustments
- Easier access at venues (cinema, theme parks, events)
Accepted at 3,000+ venues across the UK
Cost
Around £15 for 3 years
Important tips (this helps you get approved faster)
Include as much evidence as possible (don’t rely on one document)
Explain real-life difficulties, not just diagnosis
Mention things like:
- Needs supervision
- Struggles in crowds
- Needs extra support or time
The stronger your description, the better the card symbols you’ll get.

- Accessible seating
Digital + physical card
Can children with ALN get it?
Yes — children aged 5+ can apply
A parent/guardian applies on their behalf
Covers conditions like:
- Dyslexia
- Autism
- Sensory challenges
- ADHD
- Learning disabilities
The key requirement is: Your child needs support to attend the cinema (e.g. supervision, help understanding, sensory difficulties)
Important (many people get caught out here)
These DO NOT count on their own:
- School IDP / ALN plan
- GP letters alone
- Blue Badge
- Universal Credit

CEA Card (free cinema ticket for carers)
What the CEA Card gives you
- When your child buys a ticket, you (or another carer) get a FREE ticket
- Works in most UK cinemas (about 90%)
- Valid across chains like Odeon, Vue, Cineworld, Showcase
Evidence (this is the most important part)
You must upload ONE of the accepted proofs of eligibility:
Main accepted documents
- Disability Living Allowance (DLA) award letter
- Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
- Attendance Allowance
- Armed Forces Independence Payment
- Blind or partially sighted registration
For children with ALN:
- DLA is the most common and easiest proof
However, if you don’t have DLA yet, you can still apply, and they may consider:
- Medical letters
- Professional evidence
- Explanation of needs
